Training in Family Therapy

The duration of the Training is four years and concerns the diagnosis and treatment of dysfunctions that couples, families and children present. It is mainly addressed to those working in psychiatric settings but also to professionals of other specialties who collaborate with families and children (pediatricians, special educators, educators, etc.).
The Training is organized by the Institute of Family Therapy, a department of the Institute of Group Analysis (Athens), in collaboration with the Therapeutic Sector of the Open Psychotherapy Centre and operates in the form of a Training Community.
After completing the Training, graduates can become regular members of the E.F.T.A. and the Hellenic Society of Family and Couple Therapists. They also meet the requirements for obtaining the European Psychotherapy Certificate of the E.A.P.
The Training includes:
- Personal therapy before and during the Training in a mixed therapeutic group.
- Theoretical training: Active participation in intensive seminars.
- Teaching work: Coordination of seminars, theory, as well as supervision groups.
- Clinical practice in an appropriate psychotherapeutic space, throughout the duration of the Training.
- Individual and Group Analytic Supervision of the clinical practice of the students.
- Participation in the community activities of the Training; Sensitivity Group, Symposia, training meetings and organizational activities.
- Research-writing experience; writing a Short Paper (3rd year).
Writing a Diploma Thesis.
